Day Canyon Point

A small group of Jeeps made the trip to visit Day Canyon Point. This will be a new trail for the 2014 Easter Jeep Safari. Interestingly enough, only one person in our group had ever been out to Day Canyon and she wasn't quite sure how to get there. Luckily, we had a copy of Jack Bicker's book on the area and it gave a small map with a trail description. So, with this little bit of information, we decided to journey out to see if we could find Day Canyon or at least spend the day wandering the desert. We started at the base of Long Canyon as the trail description shows that it is a side trail off of the Long Canyon road near the turn off to Dead Horse State park. I love this area, it is so scenic and today was no different. What would Long Canyon be without a photo of Jeeps driving … [Read more...]

Moab Rim

Moab Rim on Saturday, July 13th. We got an early start to again try to beat the heat and so I apologize that some of these photos are dark. We were at least in the shade going up the Rim. Dee was our trail leader today with a group of 3 Jeeps and 2 Samurais. Across the Colorado from the Moab Rim trail head, you can see Little Arch up on the Poison Spider Mesa. Dee led the way up the Rim. Up and over the Devil's Crack. This is absolutely one of my favorite views in Moab. I love to see the Jeeps climbing up the trail with the Portal in the background. Now we're getting into better lighting with Dee leading the way up the Z turn. Susan & Jeff & Gene making their way up in the Samurais. Here's Dee, giving some spotting advice and driving instructions to Glen. She … [Read more...]

Fun times in Area BFE over the 4th of July weekend. Temperatures were hot and the no see 'ems were angry! A group from the Moab Friends for Wheelin' met up at the BFE parking lot to run some trails. AREA BFE has got to be one of the most amazing places to Jeep with a mix of moderate to hard core wheeling, I knew that today would be interesting. We started up Minor Threat, following the Rock race course that Jeff participated in last year. Once we turned onto Green Day backwards, we decided to go on the harder portion of the trail and not the regular track for the racers, basically, we stayed in the dry wash. The Green Day waterfall was pretty easy today although it made for some decent photos. David and his texting friend from Israel. Put down the smart phone and enjoy life! … [Read more...]
